Details
We were very pleased to be invited by the Mervyn Peake Estate to stage a performance of The Cave or Anima Mundi as part of the Camberwell Arts Festival 2009. The play was written in 1961 and had never been previously staged. A writer, artist, illustrator and former tutor at Camberwell College of Arts, Mervyn Peake is best known for his ‘Gormenghast’ trilogy but also wrote poetry, plays and short stories. With the co-operation of the playwright's son, Sebastian Peake, The Cave was adapted as a rehearsed reading by award-winning writer Brian Sibley. Following the performance the audience were able to ask questions about both the play and works of Mervyn Peake. Brian Sibley led the session and was joined by Sebastian Peake, the cast and director.
